How to make a Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

Flavor Vibe

Think of it as the lovechild of a Mexican horchata cart and a specialty coffee bar. Creamy cinnamon-spiced oatmilk, cold-shaken espresso, and just enough sweetness to make you question why you ever settled for plain lattes.

Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 2 shots (2 oz) espresso, freshly brewed

  • 1/2 cup oatmilk (unsweetened preferred)

  • 1/4 cup horchata concentrate (or homemade: blend rice milk, cinnamon, vanilla, sugar, tiny pinch of nutmeg)

  • 1 tsp maple syrup or agave (optional, depending on sweetness level)

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (plus extra for garnish)

  • Ice (a generous handful)

Method

  1. Make the horchata base: In a shaker or jar, combine oatmilk, horchata concentrate, maple/agave, and ground cinnamon. Stir or shake lightly.

  2. Pull the shots: Brew 2 shots of espresso and let them cool for 1–2 minutes so they don’t melt all your ice instantly.

  3. Shake it up: In a cocktail shaker (or mason jar with lid), add ice, espresso, and horchata oatmilk mixture. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until chilled and frothy.

Serve: Strain into a tall glass over fresh ice.
